Cyber Crime Branch, Ahmedabad City Nabs Accused for Sending Bomb Threat Emails Targeting Schools, Hospitals, and Stadiums

The Cyber Crime Branch of Ahmedabad City Police has successfully apprehended an accused from Chennai who had been sending threatening emails to schools, hospitals, and stadiums across multiple states, including Gujarat. The accused had been creating fake email IDs, using VPNs, virtual numbers, and dark web tools to send bomb threat emails to intimidate and cause panic.

Incident Details

In response to a complaint lodged by Vishnubhai Chamanbhai Khakhadiya concerning a threatening email received at Geneva Liberal School, Sarkhej, Cyber Crime Branch teams swung into action under the leadership and guidance of Shri Sharad Singhal, Joint Commissioner of Police; Dr. Lavina Sinha, Deputy Commissioner of Police; and Shri Hardik Makadia, Assistant Commissioner of Police.

The email, received on 03/06/2025 at 10:58 AM from divijprabhakaraO@gmail.com, contained alarming messages stating:

“Police is sleeping. They cannot do anything. They don't know to investigate properly. Only if children die police will become active. We are going to blast the bomb in your school to bring police attention to the rapist who raped the girl in Lemon Tree hotel in Hyderabad in 2023.”

The case was registered at Sarkhej Police Station as CR No. 111911048250452/2025 under IPC Sections 351(3), 351(4), and 353(1)(B).

Technical Investigation & Arrest

The Cyber Crime Branch carried out a thorough technical analysis, including human intelligence and cyber tools, which led them to the accused Rene Joshilda residing in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. On gathering concrete evidence, a team was dispatched to Chennai, where they successfully apprehended the accused. Legal proceedings have been initiated.

Modus Operandi

Investigation revealed that the accused, an Electrical Engineer and Senior Consultant at Deloitte USI Chennai, had created fake email accounts and fake social media profiles to send threatening emails. Since 2022, she had sent threatening emails to various prominent places including:

  • Geneva Liberal School, Sarkhej
  • Narendra Modi Stadium, Motera
  • Divyajyot School, Bopal
  • B.J. Medical College, Asarwa 
And numerous institutions across 11 states including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, Telangana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana.

A total of 21 threatening emails were tracked across these organizations.

Future Steps

The Cyber Crime Branch continues to probe into other emails sent by the accused across different states, ensuring that legal action is taken and public safety is prioritized. Cyber awareness and vigilance will be heightened to prevent such malicious threats.
